Review & Giveaway: Kinder Glo Fun Safe Portable NightLights from Blue Moon Lites!

I was recently sent a couple of Kinder Glo Nightlights from Blue Moon Lites to try out for my boys. Before their arrival, and going by the information from the website alone, I was unsure as to how this product was going to deliver. Expecting just another possible mediocre children’s gadget, I wondered if my boys would care a less about the Kinder Glo nightlights, or if they would cast them aside while they played with the box and bubble wrap as they have done so many times before when products have not delivered as promised. Boy was I wrong!!!! My sons (ages 5 and 2) love their new Kinder Glo nightlights and have used them everyday since they arrived!
Before I could even get the night lights out of the box, turned on, and onto their bases to start them charging, I had what seemed like a 100 little hands reaching and grabbing to see what these newly acquired items were. Right off the bat, the Tyrannosaurus and Brontosaurus designs appealed to both my boys…who were first convinced they were some sort of toy rather than a light. (Luckily, Kinder Glo Nightlights were designed with kids in mind because these lights are made of durable plastic, stay cool to the touch and are portable so that they can be played with like toys).
When I finally managed to take the lights away, turn them on, and set them on their base, the light show began and so did the ohhs and ahhs. My boys now fascinated by what they were seeing, were already talking about how they were going to take their new little dinosaur friends to bed with them.Thankfully, the lights were somewhat charged right out of the box because they could not wait to take them off their rechargeable bases and play with their now glowing and color changing dinosaurs. Kinder Glo nightlights make great daytime pals as well as comforting nighttime friends, and as most moms do, I love products that multi-function.
At bedtime, both my boys took their new nightlight friends to their beds, watching the soothing light show as they drifted off to sleep.
Some features of Kinder Glo Fun Safe Portable NightLights:
Fun- because they are made of soft and durable plastic and can be played with making great daytime pals
Safe-because they stay cool and never get hot and can be kept in your child’s bed during the night
Portable- because they are rechargeable and still light up even off the base
They also have different color settings (red, green, and blue or a multi-colored sequence) and 30 minute or all night time settings that can be easily changed with a push of a button to create a soothing nighttime pal.
What the boys liked:
They loved the dinosaur designs and that they could play with these lights and carry them around, making for a fun time! They also liked the color changing light show and that these could be used similarly like flashlights on their nighttime trek to the potty, etc.
What this mommy didn't like:
The product is great, no complaints about it. My only wish is that they had more choices besides the three currently available. However, I am told there are new Kinder Glo characters are on the way! (Be sure to leave your comments below as to what characters you would love to see.)

My favorite “treat” on their “menu” by far has to be their “delicious” layette milkshakes (pictured above), which look super cute and amazingly edible. However, the real treats for your little one are inside, as the 2 pack milkshakes' ingredients are a pair of socks, 2 onesies , 2 diapers, and 2 full size washcloths and they come in an assortment of “flavors” like strawberry, blueberry, lemon breeze, or cool mint. The milkshakes come in individual singles, 2 packs and 4 packs. (4 packs contain 2 pair of socks and 4 of other items listed above.) and come beautifully packaged ready for gift giving.
I received their 2 pack of "delicious" spiced pumpkin floats to indulge my lil' guy a few weeks ago. It came beautifully packaged in a tissue lined beverage carrier, wrapped in tulle with a sweet bow and ingredient card. The ingredients were: (one in each float) as the soda- 2 pumpkin spice colored washcloths, as the whipped cream-2 onesies (one says Lil' Prince with an adorable crowned bullfrog, the other plain white) as the ice cream-2 diapers, and as the cherries on top- a pair of red socks). The floats were so cute I was hesitant to take it apart to get to the "yummy" goodies inside.
The layette milkshakes are just one of many ‘delicious treats’ they have on their menu. Children’s Book Review: Sikulu & Harambe by the Zambezi River

In this story, unfolds a traditional African folklore, like that of the Bible story, The Good Samaritan. The cute creatures Sikulu the spider and Harambe the hippo help illustrate the beauty of kindness and compassion towards others as well as the unexpected rewards that come with helping those in need when the pair of pals assist a woman in need of help.
“In the African culture, many life lessons and moral values are passed down in the form of folktales. Living in modern America, our children are often devoid of that experience. Through this story, it is my vision that children learn and enjoy the gift of storytelling, all the while learning to move outside their 'comfort zone' and aspire to be good 'neighbors' in the greater sense," declares Author Kunle Oguneye.
Besides introducing the concepts of kindness and compassion to children, this book also introduces them to Zambian culture, geography, the animals who inhabit Zambia, as well as the magnificence of diversity. Not to mention, my boys loved the storybook.
The illustrations, by Bruce McCorkindale, are also very colorful and beautifully coincide with the story, so even children who can not yet read on their own can follow along the story by the illustrations alone.
At the end of the book there is a glossary of words as well as information about Zambia and its culture for even more learning fun.
Overall, I think this is a terrific children’s book geared for children pre-k to grade 3 and serves as tool not only to teach the morals of kindness and compassion to children, but also introduce children to diversity found amongst different cultures and is a great introduction to African culture. Also, this appears to be the first in the series of adventures of Sikulu and Harambe still to come.
