Summer is synonymous with swimming, barbecuing, family get-togethers, and, of course, no summer vacation would seem complete without camping or some sort of excursion into nature. There is something so nostalgic about camping with the family; the smell of the fire, weenie roasts, making S’mores, and just the overall peace being in nature brings.
Whether it’s simply pitching a tent out in the back yard, or venturing off into the wilderness to set up camp, or just a day outdoors, you’ll want to be sure you have plenty of family-fun activities and games planned, especially for kids, who sometimes can get bored rather quickly.
This is where Education Outdoors comes in. Education Outdoors offers a variety of games and activities for family fun that focus on the outdoors and nature theme that are suited for the young and old alike.
I was recently sent 2 of Education Outdoors' wonderful games for my family to review: The S’mores Card Game and Camp Travel Edition board game. Both are really fun games.
S’MORES is a very fun and unique card game designed for up to 6 multi-level players. The object of the game is to build the perfect S'more (or at least an edible one-2 graham crackers, 1 marshmallow, and 1 chocolate) before your opponents. Players get a higher point value based on the quality of S’more ingredients (there is burnt marshmallows, broken crackers, and other not-so-perfect ingredients mixed in as well as bonus cards adding to the fun of the game by adding or reducing your point value). First player to collect all the ingredient cards and call out “S’more!” wins. My family and I LOVED the S’MORES Card game. This game is simple yet so much fun! And because it is so simple, even very young children can play. The recommend age is 6+ , but my 5 year old played easily. This game is even fun for rainy days at home or for Family Game Nights!
You can also trade cards with your opponents, "stealing" their main ingredients. My son got a big kick out of the cards that took points away like "you've dropped your marshmallow in the fire" and many other scenarios that added to the fun while trying to build the perfect s'more.

The Award winning CAMP Travel Edition is very compact and mobile, with a unique wood design. Up to 4 multi-level players, and has fun "setback" and "move forward" features. All new outdoor trivia cards, with vibrant full color images, includes content highlighting all 50 states. Game includes: 50 question cards, 4 game pieces, 4 level cards, decoder, and spinner.
My family and I liked this game. I especially like it because it compacts and is easy to bring along when traveling or camping. It is also great way to learn fun trivia and facts about our beautiful United States.
