Holiday Gift Guide Part 5: A Leapin Good Time with Leap Frog

Leap Frog (you know the toys that sometimes feature the cute little frogs named Tad and Lily and a puppy named Scout on them) manufactures some of my favorite learning toys for kids. To this day I am still convinced that these toys helped my oldest son learn his ABCs, phonics, and his love for reading a lot more quickly had I gone it alone without them.  Now my youngest son (who very recently turned 2 years of age) is learning his ABCs and exploring reading.

To heighten his love of reading, and to help him in his learning journey, of course I looked to Leap Frog to find some fun learning toys to give to him this Christmas.  One toy I am confident he is going to love this year is the Tag Junior Book Pal.

The Tag Junior is similar to the Tag Reading System for older children but made for wee readers.

From their site:
“Using the same amazing touch technology as the Tag™ Reading System, the Tag™ Junior book pal is designed to encourage toddlers' natural desire to explore, while introducing preschool skills through playful book-based activities.

The Tag Junior book pal is easy for parents and children to use. Parents can download audio for up to five books to the book pal, then let their toddlers explore. Each Tag Junior board book introduces a different preschool skill - such as the alphabet, counting or social play - through 24 playful activities and more than 130 audio responses.* Open-ended questions and fun sound effects encourage children to take charge, as they touch any part of any page to bring words, pictures or activities to life. After their child has played, parents can connect the book pal to the online LeapFrog® Learning Path to see their child's progress and get printable activities to expand the learning!”

Some examples of the books in the Tag Junior collection are: ABC Animal Orchestra and Pooh Loves to, but there are many more books in the collection.

Another gift for my little guy that is sure to be under the tree this year is the Leap Frog Chat & Count Cell Phone. The Chat & Count Cell phone helps your child learn his/her numbers and also encourages social skills by talking on the phone, etc.

From their site:
"Fun learning in a smart little phone! Sing along to songs about counting and phone routines, explore more than 15 phone activities and call on Scout for learning fun as you trade calls and voicemails with your puppy pal. Parents can connect to the online LeapFrog® Learning Path for customized learning insights and ideas to expand the learning.

Learning Skills:
- Early number sense
- Pretend play
- Social skills"
