This week, I would like to focus on Thrifty Tips for saving money on laundry. Laundry detergent and other laundry supplies can be some of the more expensive household products that we use. So please take a moment, and share a thrifty tip or two on how you save money on laundry expenses!
Hunny Bee May sent this in awhile ago: "I make my own laundry soap using a grated up bar of Fels Naptha soap (.99) and a half cup each of borax and washing soda (a couple bucks per box...one box lasts me a year). A batch of this detergent lasts my family of three about two months. Use one tblsp. per load. Works great. Safe for high efficiency washers. White vinegar makes a great fabric softener too!"
What other thrifty tip do you wanna share?

Vinegar as a fabric softener. It does soften clothing and reduce static BUT it also gets excess soap out and it is better for septic systems as well as less allergen issues. use it in the downey ball
Cut dryer sheets in half or even into 1/4. does the same as a whole sheet
if you still use store bought detergent only use 1/4 the amount they tell you to use. Most scoops are much too large and all the soap doesn't rinse out

I would love to know if there is a good way to get washing soda since it's not sold in my area. I've looked everywhere!
